What you are looking at
Dots are placed randomly inside WorldPop grid cells. This is modeled population, not a census microdata point map. At 1:100, each dot stands for about 100 people so the national tileset stays browser-friendly; rebuild with --people-per-dot 1 for a full 1:1 map.
Built with the same idea as recent MapLibre + PMTiles + freestiler population maps: stream a billion-scale point cloud without a tile server. This pilot uses the 1 km product and 1:100 dots so the archive stays practical to host; a 100 m / 1:1 rebuild is a longer offline job.
